12 runs for Christmas: #12 Isthmus Peak

Christmas running in Wanaka, New Zealand

12th and final one. well when i started these 12 runs for christmas i was not posting these in any sort of order, but as it turns out Isthmus Peak is now one of my new favorite spots to run.
This is a very similar track to Mt Roy although i think is consistantly steeper but is around 200m lower. From the carpark, follow the poled route on the true right of Stewart Creek, until it joins a 4WD track. From here a steep, rocky climb winds upwards to a skyline ridge. When you reach the ridge, a sign points to the Isthmus Peak track on the right.

Once again take enough food & water to get you to the top and back to the car park.
The veiws at the top are amazing. Check out the views on this link: http://360queenstown-wanaka.com/location/isthmus-peak - some of the best New Zealand has to offer!

This track crosses private land. Please respect the landowner’s property and livestock - no dogs

Track is closed from the 20th November to 20th December
